大曽根温泉 湯の城

It might be intimidating when you first saw this super sento, but if you already tried other public bath (something like Thermae Yu in Tokyo), you should be OK. During my visit here, from start to finish, I do not need to talk to anyone: When buying tickets, there are machines with English available, not great English, but gets the points across. Similar with ordering food in the restaurant, although they only have Japanese menu there, but nothing Google Translate can't handle. Once you purchased bathing/towel rental/food tickets, just bring it to the counter and hand it to one of the attendants and off you go. The place is small for the amount of people in the bathing area. I went there on a weekday (Monday) around 7pm and it's crowded. Looking at the pools, you'd think they are making human meat soup there... It's an experience for sure Note that this is a super/large public bath that locals frequent, any soap that's on the shelf isn't yours to use, I made that mistake... The food here is just mediocre, it's convenient to bathe and eat in one place to end your day, then go back to the hotel to sleep.

Really good experience and price wise was also not bad. Facilities were good, had quite a number of baths available (outdoors and indoors). Will come back again if visiting!

A fun, affordable but intimidating mega onsen definitely Targetting locals! No English signs or translations, so make sure you have google translate ready, some prior experience with onsens is recommended. Also, around 5pm, it turns into a bit of a population density simulator (how many people can fit into a pool at once). There is a extra paid sauna area that both men and women can use, which was great. I would recommend it.

Ozone Onsen Yu no Shiro is a great spot for those who enjoy a traditional public onsen experience. The facility is clean, spacious, and well-maintained, providing a relaxing atmosphere for visitors. It’s reasonably priced, making it accessible for those seeking a budget-friendly onsen experience. However, it’s not ideal for fussy individuals, as it embodies the straightforward, communal nature of a typical onsen. A solid choice for anyone looking to unwind and experience authentic Japanese bathing culture.

(+) ◎ Stone bed with flowing hot water, can easily rest for a long time. Even though compact, there are many facilities, so you can easily spend 2 hours there. Restaurant open until midnight with 500yen きしめん, うどん Easy parking at pachinko. (-) Closer to the center, so takes an extra 20min to reach compared to nearest other onsen.
