湯のや 天然温泉 湯吉郎

It was a very good Onsen spa where there was ganbangyoku (岩盤浴). It was so sweet to provide free shuttle bus service commuting between the spa and popular spots like the Nagoya Meitetsu station. I especially liked its ganbangyoku which was very hot so that one could sweat profusely. The onsen area was also cool; they had hot and cold pools and numerous sauna places. The outdoor portion was particularly awesome. So much so it even surpassed the Canal Resort in some ways.

First of all, it was too noisy. Music was too loud and not good for relaxation. Kind of disco cheap music. Second- there were too many people. The premises are not so big, and less baths compared to other onsen. I came on a weekday, not even the weekend. They renewed the place and now it is a kind of resort-health spa with oxygen bath, salt bath, stream bath, cold baths. Also possible to get massage etc. There was actually only one " real" hot spring water bath. But that one was good. Also, they wrote many interesting things about the water qualities in English. It is the only onsen which has detailed information in English. There is a free shuttle from and to Nagoya station/ Honjin. Even in the bus it was noisy from the TV. Anyway, I won't go back there.

Very relaxing as they have the bed baths that I like, however it can get very crowded with a lot of children and can be a bit loud at times during Fridays and weekends. Overall, I would still come back to enjoy the baths during night time.

Visited on a Thursday (12/26) night. Place is a little busy, but has all the amenities that a public sauna can ask for. My favorite part is the hot sauna with an ice bath right inside. So, you can get the heat+cold simultaneously. Restaurant downstairs, rest area upstairs. Overall, fantastic experience.

Just 15mins driving from downtown. Nice and cozy environments. Lot of baths for different purposes. You can watch TV during bath, you will never feel boring. Restaurant Ootoya, inside the onsen, provides set lunch and dinner. Delicious and not expensive. Highly recommended.
