Do not believe all the good review, here simply don't welcome foreigners. The moment you don't speak Japanese, this old lady will chase you away. Don't go and don't make yourself embarrassed.
It’s a decent place if you speak Japanese. The 70-ish old lady at the front is nice to foreigners who do. But I wouldn’t recommend visiting if you don’t speak Japanese or you struggle to understand old people speak. She’s likely fed up of foreigners trying to Google Translate talk with her or something. She cracks jokes with everyone. Even the Japanese people. And others laugh too. As for the onsen itself, it’s 550 yen. There is a small rental towel for 40 yen. And you can also buy small packets of body soap and shampoo separately (there is none in the onsen). There are two hot baths and one cold bath. The hot bath is perhaps 42 celsius or more. The other hot one feels more like 39. There’s no temperature written but I’m estimating based on over 40 onsens that I’ve been to. Each bath is pretty small so only fits 4 to 8 people each. Since the place allows tattoos, there are some yakuza but they seem friendly.
Don't be put off by the reviews about the old lady. It is what it is, nice little onsen that is tattoo friendly, cheap and a unique place lost to time! Don't expect to be pampered or treated like royalty, pay your money and ask if the sauna is available or not. If you have been to an onsen before then you know how to abide by the rules and have no problems. Definitely worth the visit, highly recommend this one of a kind onsen.
A Hostile and Humiliating Experience – Avoid This Onsen at All Costs I have visited many onsens in Japan, and I have always respected the traditions and etiquette that come with them. However, my experience at this particular onsen was nothing short of humiliating and infuriating, all thanks to the openly racist and condescending behavior of the manager—an elderly woman who clearly despises foreign visitors. From the moment I stepped in, I could feel the hostility. Despite my best efforts to follow the rules, the manager scrutinized me with disdain, speaking rapidly in Japanese and making no attempt to communicate in a way I could understand. When I politely asked for clarification, she scoffed and continued berating me in front of other guests, as if I had personally offended her by simply existing. The embarrassment was overwhelming. The worst part? She outright refused me entry, solely because I did not understand her demands in perfect Japanese. I have encountered language barriers before, but never have I been treated with such blatant disrespect. Other patrons watched as she shamed me, some even laughing along as she mocked me. It was dehumanizing, and it became painfully obvious that foreigners are not welcome here—unless, of course, they somehow meet this woman’s absurdly narrow criteria for “acceptable” customers. No onsen experience should leave a person feeling unwelcome, humiliated, and furious. If you are a foreign visitor, especially one who isn’t fluent in Japanese, save yourself the frustration and take your business elsewhere. There are many wonderful onsens in Japan that actually appreciate their guests, rather than treating them as unwelcome intrusions. This place? An absolute disgrace.
Tattoo-friendly sento operated by an old lady. She asks if a foreigner speaks Japanese and explains basic rules (also, on the wall). If you fail to comply she’ll kick you out. The area has three pools. Two are extremely hot. One is cold. There is also a small sauna. Lockers are there too: 100 yen ones and free ones. It is an old sento. If you need to warm-up after a cold day. But for me, heat was unbearable 😁
