5件The only good thing about 9h is the location. Several issues: 1. There are cameras in the capsules. I booked on Expedia and this wasn't something I expected. I asked staff for tape to cover it up and it took some convincing. Creepy. 2. The lockers are on a different floor and there is no space for luggage in the sleeping area. 3. The lockers are very very narrow. My bag did not fit. I have to ask reception to get anything out of my bag. 4. There is no soap in the toilets. 5. Mattresses are very thin and very firm. Pillows are oddly lumpy, firm and ... crunchy? I have stayed in hostels before but this place is a bit of a joke. I want to check out and find another place to stay but it's too late now. Avoid if you can.
Stayed for 10 nights off-season (start of february). The people in the reviews seem to have expected the Hilton for the price of a capsule hotel. In my experience, the pod was clean, spacious and comfortable (and I'm just under 2m tall), and the staff was nice and helpful in the few interactions we've had. The location is superb for an all-round Tokyo visit, couple of minutes on foot to two metro stations that will get you anywhere you want, or within one transfer of it. Breakfast service is handled by a nearby cafe, with good results. And if you're bothered that you can't get inside your pod during four hours in the middle of the day, then why are you in Tokyo anyway? Go sightsee... Same with people that want to sit in the lobby of a capsule hotel for some inconceivable reason. Now for the things that need improvement: the lockers are pretty bad. Small, in cramped space and just overall inconvenient. I can't imagine what it must look like when the hotel is fully booked. One other thing is that the toilets could use some more thorough cleaning (and the people using them could benefit from some basic manners, i.e. learning why you shouldn't piss on the floor). It is the kind of place where your experience will heavily depend on the behaviour of the people you share it with, so obviously your mileage might vary. Bring the best earplugs money can buy.
I had a wonderful stay at 9h Akasaka. I don't know what these commenters are expecting... I booked this hotel for about $30USD and the value is insane. $30 in the US would get you something much, much worse than this experience. For $30, this was a fabulous stay. That being said, It did kind of seem like the staff hated their jobs. I sure hope they get paid enough. Nonetheless, they were nice enough and accomodating. The rooms were so clean and I was pleased with the amenities: very nice and clean showers, standard high-tech Japanese toilet. Also, the capsule bed is more spacious than it may seem in the pictures, so that was really nice. I had a suprisingly great sleep in my capsule and women's floor was very quiet! Also, the voucher for Komeda's coffee is great. I had a lovely coffee and toast breakfast at Komeda and it was delicious. Would definitely recommend this location, close to the city center and easy to get around.
Quiet, comfortable, close to the Subway. Everything is well structured, straightforward and easygoing. Quick and self check-in, check-out. The capsule is wide enough for 2 people but you sleep alone, so it is spacious. In the capsule there is usb charging point and adjustable light. Everyday a new pyjama, toothbrush, towels are given. Locker size is good enough for 1 luggage, 1 backpack and many other stuff. It is quiet. If I stay around akasaka I would stay there again. Location is great but there is not shortcut to the station street so you have to walk around. But it is not a big issue.
It was good for the price. However, as I compare it to my previous experience at the 9h hours in Fukuoka, I think this one was less nice. Less clean (especially the shower), and overall a lack of space in the common areas, and sinks. The pods were good though. I slept very well, but didn't like the lockers and showers. It was very hard to get ready efficiently in the morning. The receptionnists were not kind most of the time. There were a few that were very helpful, but otherwise they weren't friendly.. We booked 10 nights in those capsule hotels, which is a lot haha
