5件This was my first experience in an Onsen, and I loved it. Because I’m new to the experience I booked a private onsen for 2hrs, which I think it’s the best, I don’t think I would have enjoyed in 1hr or 1,5hrs. I also have a tattoo so I obviously can’t use the public baths and saunas unfortunately as it’s not tattoo friendly. I asked the person at the desk and she told me not even with coverings they wouldn’t allow it. On the private onsen is different because it’s only you. The girl at reception was super sweet and used google translate to tell me where to go, so I think it’s foreigner friendly as they do make the effort in communicating everything. The bath was literally magical, I chose the honey bath salts and I loved it. You can add more hot water as you please. The little room you get is very clean and has all the amenities. I would 100% come here again! I really liked it :)
We had a great time! The staff was friendly and patient for the two of us tourists, welcoming and nice. After the bath, I had a moment when I put the shoe locker keys into my bag and forgot about them, only to have the staff wrack their heads over a possible lost key. Sorry about that...! All in all, bath was great, the private room we had was cozy and, I'll definitely go there again - after the embarrassment dies down.
I visited Nobeha no Yu Tsuruhashi on a weekday night close to midnight, and despite the late hour, the place was still incredibly crowded. It was almost entirely locals, which I actually appreciated—it felt very authentic and showed how popular this onsen is among people who live in the area. One of my favourite features was the individual outdoor tubs in the ladies’ area. Having your own little private-style tub under the night sky felt luxurious and peaceful, even with the crowd. It’s not something every onsen offers, and it really stood out as a highlight. The indoor onsen, on the other hand, was a bit too humid and stuffy for my liking. There are plenty of indoor bath options, but the air felt heavy, so I found myself preferring the outdoor section much more. A few things to note: • No tattoos allowed, so be mindful of that before visiting. • Even on a weekday late at night, it’s still lively and packed, so don’t expect a quiet soak. • Facilities are clean and well-maintained, and the atmosphere feels very local and genuine. Overall, Nobeha no Yu Tsuruhashi is a great option if you enjoy outdoor baths and want a more local Japanese onsen experience. The individual tubs alone make it worth a visit, though be prepared for crowds no matter the hour. ♨️✨
We used the Aoi private bath and it was perfect! I would say 1 hr is enough for us although official website says 1.5 is a more popular choice. People who have booking should consider arriving 10 mins before the booking time as there’s a line up at registration.
2025 August 4.5★ Private family onsen option. 90 minutes at ¥6000 as the electronic bill reads: <ご予約内容>:楓(かえで)/楓(かえで)1時間30分(受付枠料金/¥6,000) Great experience. Huge facility with multiple floors: 4F - Private family bath 3F - Korean-style clothed sauna 2F - Large public bath/sauna 1F - reception. restaurant and resting area. Upon entry, take your shoes off at the front and put each pair of shoes in it's own locker (free). Bare foot throughout. St the 4F they will give you traditional shoes as certain areas are outdoors (covered). Go with a partner. Kids. Afterwards, kids (unsupervised, self sufficient) can stay downstairs, eat some snacks etc. while you relax. :) Would come again. Would recommend.
