The property is lovely, but has mold issues. I spent 3 nights here are the stay was overall great. Service was attentive, everything was clean and new, rooms and facilities felt luxury. However, the toilet room in my room stank of mold, and looking up, there was clearly black mold inside the toilet vents. It was so bad that I needed a mask to use the bathroom. The bedroom and shower area are both removed from the toilet, so --as of now -- air quality in the room was unaffected. However, the mold is so bad that it has likely been there a while, and staff is must be aware of the issues. So anyone mold sensitive may want to think twice about future bookings. My rational is as follows: Hotel management is aware of mold issues and has made a decision that mold management/ remediation is not a priority. Plus, the issue is in the duct work, so it likely effects more than one room. Finally, this is a Japanese style hotel, relying on traditional, and very mold prone, materials like tatami mats and soft wall coverings, so spread is quite likely. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone not mold sensitive. For those who are, I suggest looking elsewhere. Although Japan's climate makes it susceptible to mold, over the years, I have spent months here, and have been able to avoid mold, even in 100+ year old properties, so please don't feel discouraged. I hope this review is of service to folks with health issues and sensitives that make mold avoidance a priority.

Very friendly staff who made us feel genuinely welcome from the moment we arrived. The hotel is spotless and still feels brand new (it only opened in 2025), with everything looking modern and well maintained. I booked the larger room and I’m really glad I did — it was surprisingly spacious, with plenty of room to spread out and easily enough space for a family of four. The facilities were excellent too: the onsen and relaxation area were especially nice and made it easy to unwind after a day out. As with any Onyado Nono stay, breakfast is a must for me, and this one was a highlight — it wasn’t crowded at all, which made the whole experience far more enjoyable than some of the busier Onyado Nono locations. Location-wise, it’s hard to beat. The main shopping street is basically right outside the hotel, and there are plenty of attractions within easy walking distance. Overall, a fantastic stay and one I’d happily repeat.

What an experience ! You take your shoes off at the entrance and just feel like home when you're inside. Onsen and sauna + cold plunge available. Free unlimited ice-cream and probiotic drinks in the morning. + location is great I recommend

For those who are familiar with the Dormy Inn group (kyoritsu) Onyado nono is the japanese twist of their core hospitality offer. Recently opened, the new nono in kumamoto confirm the highest quality of accomodation in japan. spotless clean room, neat minimalism, and extra care that makes them best hotels in Japan. Going to a warm bath after a long day of walking is the service we never thought about, but became soon essential to all our trip. Worth the premium in every way.

Brand new hotel from the Dormy Inn branch situated at the end of a bustling shopping street. It was easy to get to from Kumamoto JR station via the tram. Tatami is comfortable and the hotel is very clean! The public onsen can get busy and unfortunately the floors were wet in the changing room so it was a bit gross to step into everyone’s feet juice. Maybe they can consider having an onsen attendant wiping the floors more regularly or have a bigger drying mat at the onsen entrance. The staff also forgot to mention there is a special access code for the women’s onsen, which I think should be brought up at the moment of check in. Otherwise our stay was very satisfying. We particularly enjoyed the fresh tempura at breakfast, and I even got to try stewed horse for the first time! Overall do not hesitate to book this hotel :)
