Worst hostel I have ever stayed at. Slowest and smallest elevator ever, stops on every floor. No common or lounge area. Lockers, bunks, bathroom, shower. No place to pack or unpack. Absolutely ridiculous rule that you are kicked out between 11am and 3pm so they can clean. Even if you have booked multiple days. No option to not have your bunk cleaned. They even kick you out of using the restroom at those hours. This place is all aesthetics and nothing else.

I stayed at 9H Sendai for four nights and it was my first time staying in a capsule hotel. The facilities feel modern and tidy and the bathrooms and toilets were very clean. One thing I did not like is that you must leave the building every day at 11 AM which is not very convenient. I can also imagine the capsules getting quite hot during summer because there is no fan or cooling inside. Inside the capsule there is only a lamp and one power outlet and no TV or USB ports. This was the cheapest place on Booking.com when I booked. For the price I really cannot complain and overall it was good value for a short stay if you know what to expect from a capsule hotel.

Overall a good hostel. Decent location near public transport and Luup. 7Eleven downstairs. Cleanest looking hostel I stayed at. The locker area is very spacious, maybe add some tables for luggage sorting to make it even better. Lots of showers, toilets, and sinks per floor. The cabin was decent; the shutters didn’t close properly as the mattress was in the way. A light switch at the exit of the pod would have been useful. Guests were respectful and given the number of pods on the floor it was quite peaceful.

In terms of capsule hotels this is by far one of the worst options that can possibly be chosen. Their entire business model revolves around deceiving people with cool scenery into purchasing an overpriced stay with far fewer amenities than are standard for similar places within Japan. Not to mention their rules are genuinely a nightmare for the customer and are seemingly in place simply for the convenience of the company. I’ve seen this hotel listed for anywhere from $30-$100 a night (depending on location) usually between the $40-$70 range. At that price range, nearly every single capsule hotel or otherwise I’ve stayed at throughout Japan had a TV, an included air conditioner, and lenient rules that allowed for customers to spend their morning relaxed and at their leisure. However this hotel seemingly for the sake of its appearance alone, has baren capsules with zero features besides the light and the charging port. Not to mention despite how long your staying, you will be forced every single morning to check out from the same capsule so they can force clean it, this is not negotiable and god forbid if you are not up at the proper time they will wake you up, steal your key and clean it against your will anyways. I’ve stayed at the hamamatsucho location on several occasions and the scenery and beautiful rooftop sitting area just barely made it worth the trouble the hotel causes… however, at any normal location you will simply receive a horrifyingly bare bones uncomfortable, regrettable experience comparatively to what you could have gotten literally anywhere else for the same price. Not to mention the Sendai locations tech is absolutely abysmal and their services are haphazardly broken and finicky. I would absolutely strongly recommend anyone avoid this place at all costs.
