5件Top bathhouse experience. Such a well-done operation. You pay by the hour, but the setup makes you forget time exists. Loved the separate sauna rooms and the three cold pools. My nervous system is still thanking me.
Ive been to saunas/ steam rooms etc all over the world ,but found this very confusing as im aware of the cultural differences but I felt awkward having to.place a big sticker on me for having tattoo's!! And pay an extra 500yen. It wasn't a relaxing experience as too afraid of breaking rules ( as others have mentioned too). I left after 45 mins when my small towel was taken cos I'd left it in a place I shouldn't have unknowingly whilst in a hot tub. Total cost was 2700 yen or $27 A$. Cheaper if I'd taken my Tattoo's off ! A costly and sadly unfriendly experience.
As a Finnish person I must say I was delighted with my visit here. Saunas are hot, drinks are cold, men are naked. Cold plunge (there are many) was around 8 degrees, which was great! For a foreigner this place is a nice peak into Japanese culture. Here Japanese men tune into their bodies, embracing the silence, not something you see while wondering the streets. And I had giggle watching japanese men watch soap opera on tv while taking a sauna, nothing I thought would exist. But why not..? One wish I had is that the onsens were a little hotter. They were around 38-39. And also, if they want to impress me more, they'll have to go for woodfired saunas. Anyways, I had a lovely stay, love to see these places where you can sit back and relax.
This place is amazing, it has it all. Different onsens, one bath with a big TV playing Japanese TV, saunas, steambaths, cold baths, and a lovely room to sleep naked with a virtual sunset on a shoji-paper wall. Best part is the clothed area afterwards where you can lie down on sleeping chairs, with TV screens, unlimited assortment of books and manga, a Japanese style dining area and smoking room. The bring your food and drinks to your sleeping chairs if you’d like! I highly recommend this place to sweat/sleep your hangover out after a night drinking in Tokyo! I’m totally revived and I felt so bad.. also very friendly towards tattoo’s. They allow tattoos without any covers, all you have to do is wear a sticker on your left chest warning other guest!
Really nice and relaxing. They walk you through the system on your first visit, but it's pretty straightforward; you use your key for everything and then pay at the kiosk at the end. The bath on the first floor is not that remarkable, but there's three cold pools and maybe half a dozen saunas upstairs, as well as a lounge. I really liked the Japanese steam sauna, which had a lemon scent of the day, and there was a meditation room with herbs, and a room with fancy lights and music.
