We have stayed at a Dormy Inn location in Kyoto and loved it, so we thought this would be a similar experience. Unfortunately, this wasn’t the case. The Good: The location for this hotel is in a busy part of Kawasaki, so there’s lots to do and see only steps away. The room we stayed in was a decent size, not too small with enough room to move around. Inexpensive laundry room! A cool library full of manga if you can read Japanese. Train station is about a 10 min walk away. (Very confusing station btw) You can also see Mt. Fuji from the top floor! Free yogurt drinks in the mornings and ice cream bars at night. 7-11 is attached to the hotel lobby. The Bad: The Onsen is a little small with only 2 hot springs, a cold bath and sauna. When it’s busy, it’s very packed with people and hard to enjoy. The locations of the microwaves are in the same room as the smoking areas, so it’s not a pleasant experience to use them. There’s no water dispenser anywhere. This is the first place we have been to that didn’t have some place you could get water. The top floor is excessively hot, especially as of writing this post in December. The beds and pillows are terrible, and honestly makes the stay very uncomfortable. They are hard and it feels like the pillows are made of the same material. It’s like sleeping on rocks. When it’s busy, the 4 elevators are painfully slow and packed with people, so it could take 15 minutes just to get back to your room. Overall, the hard beds and pillows alone knocks 2 stars off my review. If that’s something you can overlook or tolerate, then hotel is a decent stay.

It's about a ten-minute walk from the station. This was my first time experiencing a Japanese hot spring inn, and most of my needs were met; it was a very nice inn. The room initially smelled of smoke, so we couldn't change rooms because it was full. However, the situation improved a lot after using the deodorizing tools provided in the room, the air conditioning, and opening the windows. I was very satisfied with the room service provided daily and the clean and tidy room was a welcome sight. The breakfast food was quite delicious, but after eating there for almost a week, it started to get a bit boring. The restaurant staff were very attentive and provided excellent service. The hot springs are very relaxing. After the session, drinks and popsicles are provided. There is also a coin-operated machine where you can buy other drinks and alcohol. Overall, it was a very nice hot spring inn for my first visit.

I stay here whenever I can. Although demand has increased and so has the price, it is always worth the money in my book. Rooms are immaculate. No smart TV but that isn't an issue for me. The onsen is also very nice and roomy, even compared to other onsen hotels I've been to; no small feat for being so close to Tokyo. Breakfast is also worth the splurge if you're doing a long stay, much higher quality food than most hotel buffets. If not, the complimentary yogurt drinks, ice cream, and ramen can easily cover the cost of a meal you'd have to forage for staying elsewhere. My only complaint is that recently they have closed off the towel receptacle in the change room. This feels like purely a cost cutting measure, and now there is weird, wasted locker space and I dislike having to carry a wet towel back to my room. If they can revert this unfortunate decision this place gets a perfect score in my book.

It's a hotel! But I haven't had issues with Dormy Inn's, and for some reason their premium extra large rooms were on sale for the same price as normal on Agoda 🙂 lots of included amenities incl laundry, ice cream, and probiotic drinks. Docked a star because of their archaic tattoo policy at the public onsen.

A nice hotel for staying in Kawasaki. The hot spring was quite nice and special. This hotel also has various facilities like other dormyinn. By the way, the breakfast was pretty good with a good level of variety there although the steak was not the whole cut steak. It was the restuctured or formed beef steak. Nonetheless, I will stay there again if I will visit Tokyo again in the future.
