Great tattoo friendly onsen in Kyoto. It was our first time at an onsen and the staff was very nice and helpful. We felt very relaxed and rejuvenated after our visit!

Foreigner review: Super local and OG vibe. Tattoo friendly. Boss lady very friendly, I think they do rental, but I just bought my own at a nearby drug store. I only saw Locals there but the lady seem to know a bit of English. 4 hot tubs (jets, electric, some kind of blue water - it's hot enough but I prefer even hotter.), 1 cold and 1 sauna. Would go again and recommend to other foreigners.

Visiting Japanese Sento is one of a interesting activities. Goshikiyu is a nice public bathhouse ( sento ) located in a quiet neighborhood in Saiin area. The fine quality of water being boiled with all natural materials the water offers great comfort to your skin. The style is very traditional which reminds us of good-old days. there is a large space of sauna with a pleasant smell of cypress and water bath. According to the locals, the water supplied from a lion head in its water bath is drinkable. There are standing type of shower booths equipped near the entrance and next to water bath to make sure all the visitors come in and out with clean body. There is a nice bubble bath with neon light shining into the water, Another unique feature is a sitting bath close to the entrance to the bathing hall equipped with a small jet shooting up from the bottom part of the tub to give massage to your feet and San Parco Enzyme Bath ( its medicinal bath ). Goshikiyu is very popular among locals living nearby. You may hear a friendly conversation exchanged among people inside which is a great way to feel the atmosphere of being in this area.
