5件Great pkace to stay in Kyoto. Quiet area with easy access to buses and trains. Very clean and excellent hotel staff. Public bath is perfect after long days of walking. Recommend
Location was great, decent facilities. I enjoyed the onsen and vending machine options. I tend not to speak Japanese when I visit hotels to see the service quality of the staff and unfortunately this was one of the worst places i have been to in Japan in terms of service. I walked down to the front desk and asked if they had any washing services and the girl said that they only had a coin washer. I said thank you and left towards the elevator and I then heard the other girl ask the receptions why she didnt give me the sheet for the washing service which she replied with " cus he was seriously annoying".
If you need a hotel in Kyoto and are gonna rent a bike or are on a tour, this is the perfect hotel for you. It's clean, it's quiet, it's got a window that lets in plenty of natural light. The beds are plush and the staff are perfectly friendly and happy to answer any questions you might have. The only reason I took off a star is the location. Obviously, a hotel can't help where it's built, but oh my gosh, it will take you 20-30 minutes (if you're lucky) to get ANYWHERE. Nishiki market is a 26 minute bus ride and while Kyoto station is a convenient stop away, the train is not so frequent. I loved staying here, I even paid for breakfast one morning (which was okay, not anything to write home about), but I would consider maybe staying somewhere a bit more central next time.
I booked this hotel primarily for its onsen, which I found to be better than those at other hotels in Kyoto. However, I was disappointed with the location, as it was inconvenient for accessing the shopping areas on 4th Street. The bus wait times were long, and walking took about 30 minutes. The room itself was extremely small—there wasn't even enough space to move around after opening my suitcase. Additionally, the housekeeping service was lacking. A housekeeper accidentally stepped on my belongings inside my trolley. When I raised this issue at the front desk the next morning, they seemed unaware of the situation, which was frustrating. I believe they are now aware of my concerns after I posted this review on Google. Furthermore, I stayed for five nights and was placed in a room on the second floor that faced the backyard. It was quite dark, with no natural light even in the morning. This was disheartening, especially as a solo traveler. It seemed that the hotel prioritized group bookings over individual guests. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this hotel for anyone traveling alone or with a partner.
Nice hotel with good location. The room is abit small but practical. It has a small bath tub for private onsen. There is a public bath onsen which is great. However, sadly they dont provide body lotion for male bath (heard lady bath is available). The daily free-flow coffee is nice. There is no carpark on this hotel, you need to park your car at nearby paid public parking lots. Overall it is recommended since it is very affordable hotel.
