Crispy and sun-dried scented bedding The sleeping area at Eight Point Inn Kanazawa smelled crispy and sun-dried quite fresher than many indoor spaces in Japan during winter often carrying the lingering scent of cooked food. The signature open kitchen was a highlight for a WFA-er, which allowed me to enjoy a sun-drenched, healthy breakfast as a morning ritual or experiment with a fusion version of Jibuni after work. The location is excellent; it's close to the city hub and the Korinbo bus stop, making it easy to get anywhere. The only downside was the noise from other guests, which is to be expected in a shared dormitory setting.

Spacious room and clean bathroom. Very comfortable stay. Could slightly hear someone snoring next door, but it wasn’t loud and I still slept well.

If you can avoid it, RUN ! What kind of place where you are supposed to sleep keeps the lights on the all night in the dorm ? What kind of place puts cameras everywhere, even in places that can tape inside your « room » and watch you sleep ??? I’ve slept better in rooms with hair on my bed.

Instead of the typical capsule you would find in many Japanese hotels, this one offers what they call "cabins", which is like a walk-in version of a capsule. This is in some ways more comfortable and convenient, but be aware that the cabins have no ceiling (kind of like an office cubicle). This means the other cabins are somewhat audible and, more importantly, the lights are on all night (bring a sleep-mask). Otherwise, the place is impeccably clean and there were always staff to consult when I needed. The common room seemed like a great place to hang out but it was empty most of the time I was there.

Good value for money and very clean. Beds very comfortable. Convenient location in the centre of Kanazawa, close to a lot of tourist attractions and an easy bus ride to the station. Only real negatives were that I would have preferred a little extra room by the side of the bed, even if it meant having smaller beds, and because my cabin was right next to the door I was disturbed by other guests quite a lot. It also felt like it wouldn't have been hard for outsiders to gain access to the rooms, so security would have been a concern anywhere other than Japan.
