I enjoyed an overnight stay twice during my 4 month time studying in Japan. I have a large tattoo on my back and so had only experienced private onsen in the past. I'm so grateful for tattoo friendly places like Koganeyu because the experience in a local public sento is a totally different ( and wonderful) vibe. The facility had been renovated in a hip and modern way and staff is very kind and helpful to someone like me whose Japanese is limited. When you check in, they even provide you with an instructional video to watch to help you navigate the capsule rooms and the bath. The room was clean, safe, and comfortable and in terms of price it's incredibly affordable. I paid $6000 yen per night, which included use of the baths in the evening and morning as well as the sauna, which is usually an extra fee. Incredible! On my second visit, I had a lovely dinner and their in-house beer in the cafe that's on site. Get the lamb keema curry, their specialty. As you can tell, I am truly in love with this place. The owners and staff have created a truly special and welcoming place in the world.

From now on, My go to Tokyo sento!!! It was tattoo friendly, And I had small talk with local japanese(Although I am still learning they were so kind to let me know what herb it was used in the pool!). Considering local people are not used to people who have bunch of tattoos, They will gonna look at you but that does not mean they hate you. I loved little sauna inside which was perfect for little release and I had lovely time. They also have cafe upstairs but I didn't eat because they don't sell any vegan stuff. But it felt good and cozy overall 🩵 Arigatogojaimasu! + My only request is sento music is sometimes too loud or not matching the mood. I would love it would be more calming and oriental vibe music that helps people feel peace.

Beautifully renovated sento that blends traditional Japanese bathing culture with a modern, stylish design. - clean facilities, relaxing atmosphere, and attention to detail. - the sauna area well-heated - friendly and welcoming staff, which makes the experience easy even for first-timers or foreign guests like me. - the mural-style artwork above the baths adds a unique, artistic touch - I felt really well received by the other men inside—they were friendly and helpful when I felt a bit lost during my first onsen visit, which made the whole experience much more comfortable. You can also enjoy a cold beer after your bath, which is great :)

Great experience! My first true onsen so wasn’t sure what to expect. I came with a heavily tattooed friend and we were totally fine. The inside is relatively simple - 4 small pools, a sauna and a bathing area with small stools. The women’s area is very peaceful, full nude, and I was the only non-Japanese person in there. I recommend bringing your own hairbrush! You only need about an hour there IMO. There is an indoor/outdoor cafe on the second floor if you want a beer or snack after! As someone that doesn’t love super touristy things, would go again.

Honestly a must-visit place for anyone into baths or hot springs. There’s a nice hip vibe to the place. The crowd is younger and more social than your typical Tokyo sento. The beer is excellent!! Bring your own towels (otherwise you’ll have to rent), but soap and shampoo is provided. I only wish the hot bath was a bit hotter.
